An Open Letter to a Bride Feeling Anxiety

Education + Planning

July 31, 2024

Dear future bride,

I completely understand how stressful it can be when there are differing opinions on something as important as your wedding photography. It’s your special day, and ultimately, you should feel confident and excited about your choices.

Imagine sitting together at a table inside a cozy cafe or on a lovely summer afternoon outside on a patio. Though we can’t be together to discuss this right now, here’s what I want to share with you today in this open letter.

Trust Your Vision:

Remember that this is your wedding, and it should reflect your style and preferences. You’ve already done the hard work of finding a photographer whose work resonates with you. Trust your instincts—this is a crucial aspect of your day that you should feel good about. Pray about it, write about, talk about it with your groom if you’d like to include him too.

Communicate:

If you’re feeling the pressure from family or friends, it might help to have a calm conversation with them about why you chose your photographer. Share what you love about their work and how their style fits with your vision for the day.

Consider a Compromise:

If there are specific aspects that your family or friends are concerned about, see if there’s a middle ground that can address their concerns without compromising your preferences. Maybe they have valid points that can be incorporated in a way that still aligns with your vision. I’m always hear to listen to any and all expectations so we can see what I can do to make those happen.

Focus on the Big Picture:

While it’s great to have family and friends’ input, remember that the most important thing is that you and your love are happy with your choices. As your photographer, I will be capturing moments that are meaningful to you, and that’s what truly matters.

Reassure Yourself:

You’ve put in the effort to find a photographer who aligns with your style and needs. You’ve made an informed decision based on what’s best for you two. It’s okay to stand by that choice and feel confident about it.

If you have any more questions or need further reassurance, I’m here to help in any way I can. Your happiness with your wedding photography is my top priority!
