A Classic D.C. Wedding Filled with Color, Emotion, and Timeless Style

Katie and Ben’s wedding day was everything a luxury D.C. wedding should be — effortless, vibrant, and deeply meaningful. Set against the backdrop of two iconic Washington, D.C. venues — St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and The Hotel Washington — their celebration blended classic beauty with joyful, modern flair.

As a Washington, D.C. wedding photographer, I have the privilege of capturing weddings at many incredible venues — and this one was truly special.

Getting Ready in Style at The Hotel Washington

Katie and her bridesmaids got ready at The Hotel Washington, a favorite among D.C. wedding venues for its upscale charm and beautiful views of the White House and Monument. Katie wore a stunning gown from Brooke’s Bridal and Ball, designed by Madeline Gardner, and her bridesmaids were dressed in Birdy Grey’s “Shiny Satin Sage” — a soft, sophisticated green that photographed beautifully in every light.

The details were thoughtfully chosen, from her glowing makeup by Christin Birckhead of Conceptual Beauty to the delicate, balanced flat lays we styled with bright florals by Maria Darling of Darling and Daughters.

A Sacred and Sentimental Ceremony at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church

Katie and Ben exchanged vows at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, one of D.C.’s most historic churches. The ceremony was full of reverence, laughter, and a sense of stillness in the middle of the city. As a photographer, moments like this — full of presence and peace — are what I live to capture.

A Colorful Reception at The Hotel Washington

Back at The Hotel Washington, guests were welcomed into a warm and inviting reception space transformed by Christiane of Voile + Veil. Her soft, sweeping drapery added a romantic layer to the already elegant ballroom. The florals truly made the space come alive — bright, lush blooms that felt like spring in full expression.

Josh Tope of DJ Topedo kept the energy high with an incredible mix that had the dance floor packed all night. Every toast, dance, and candid moment spoke to the deep relationships Katie and Ben have with their friends and family.

Final Thoughts

Katie and Ben’s wedding was a true reflection of who they are — joyful, kind, and beautifully grounded. Their love brought warmth and light to every moment. Capturing this day was an absolute honor, and I hope these photographs forever preserve the way it felt.
