July in Virginia
With its grandeur and serene beauty, Oatlands provided the perfect backdrop for their second session with me. The sun bathed everything in a golden hue, casting soft shadows that danced playfully around them and made us all glisten with sweat. Virginia in July is not for the faint of heart, but these two made it look easy.

She is beyond kind and so easy to talk with. Alex, steady and gentle, gazed back at Lex throughout this evening with a tenderness that spoke volumes about their deep connection. Together, they exuded a quiet confidence and a palpable sense of excitement about the future as they prepare for their upcoming wedding. I cannot wait!
Amongst the ancient trees and blooming flowers, we explored the gardens, seeking out hidden corners and picturesque vistas that would frame their love beautifully. As the sun set, we ventured to a nearby field for the last moments of sunshine.
Final Moments
As the evening progressed and the sky turned shades of soft pink and lavender, we found ourselves drawn to this more secluded spot where the old-world charm of Oatlands merged seamlessly with the vast field nearby.
As we wrapped up the session, walking back through the gardens now bathed in the soft glow of dusk, I couldn’t help but feel privileged to have witnessed and documented another moment in Lex and Alex’s lives as their engagement season comes to a close. Their summer engagement at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens was more than just a photo shoot—it was a celebration of love, commitment, and the beginning of a new chapter together.
