I love doing photoshoots at Blandy Experimental Farm in Virginia! Every time I shoot there, I find some new spot that gives couples exactly the kind of photos they’re looking for. This was true for Monica and Joe too. Those two were amazing, and we had so much fun taking their Blandy Experimental Farm engagement photos. Let me tell you how it went!
The Location
I get it, Blandy Experimental Farm is a bit of a weird name, but sometimes the weirdest names hide the greatest locations. I keep going back to Blandy Experimental Farm because it offers so much for the couples I shoot. A big part of that is because it’s 712 acres of beautiful land. Plus, it even contains the State Arboretum Of Virginia right in its middle!
There are walking trails there, you can ride horses there, bring your dog, and more. Blandy Experimental Farm has tons of options, which means tons of ways for you to get your Blandy Experimental Farm engagement photos done there!
Monica And Joe’s Blandy Experimental Farm Engagement Photos
Part of why I love what I do is getting to meet so many great people. And I’m so happy I get to add Monica and Joe to the list. What made them so great to work with was the fact they value photos so much. Some people view taking engagement photos or wedding photos as a chore, but it’s really not! It’s a lot of fun, and Monica, Joe, and I started that fun with plenty of conversations discussing locations and timelines for their engagement photos. They were really involved, and I was glad to help provide my expertise to give them the best Blandy Experimental Farm engagement photos possible.
Now, as far as their Blandy Experimental Farm engagement photos go, Monica and Joe went with simple getups that fit the occasion but also matched the location. Joe wore some jeans and a black shirt while Monica wore a nice white dress. Not only did their outfits go well with each other, but they also had a natural feel that made sense for where they were. That really helped me to take advantage of the location for them.
One of the things I like to do for the couples I shoot is give them options, which was no exception for Monica and Joe. We shot in several spots for their Blandy Experimental Farm engagement photos, but we also shot in several different lights too. Plus, I gave them different edited options as well. In the end, they went with the gold-toned edits, and they really loved the sun flares. It helped that the sunshine was perfect that day!
Overall, the whole photoshoot had an earthy, timeless vibe to it, which I think went well with Monica and Joe’s natural look and casual, fun attitudes.
