We will cover everything from choosing an event space to hiring vendors. So, whether you are just starting to plan your Shadow Creek wedding or you are already well underway, be sure to read this post!

The Venue

Shadow Creek is a beautiful sprawling property in Loudoun County, Virginia. With its rolling hills and scenic views, all Shadow Creek weddings have an unforgettable backdrop of beauty.

The property, which is made up of a large ballroom inside the barn and an expansive patio, is versatile, so you can come up with a wedding day plan that works for you. For more intimate occasions, some couples even choose to use the barn’s charming portico for the ceremony while setting the ballroom up as a reception venue.

The Barn Ballroom

The ballroom is the main event space on the property. It features hardwood floors, exposed beams, and large windows that provide breathtaking views of the grounds. The room can accommodate up to 300 for a seated dinner.

It’s a fully air-conditioned space that is handy during Virginia’s hot summers and freezing winters, which makes your Shadow Creek wedding a truly weather-proof occasion.

The room has a neutral palette that can be easily decorated to fit any wedding theme.

The Patio

The patio is a beautiful outdoor space that overlooks the rolling hills of Virginia. It is the perfect place for a ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception. The space can also accommodate up to 300 guests.

Weddings held at the golden hour on the Patio are particularly magical as the sun sets over the hills, casting a beautiful glow on the event. It’s an extremely picturesque venue which is part of what makes a Shadow Creek wedding truly stand out from the rest of the wedding venues in Virginia.

The Portico

The portico is a charming covered space in front of the barn that’s typically used for cocktails. But, the repeating columns and the magnificent front facade of the barn are just too beautiful to ignore and can serve as a natural frame that can make ceremony photos absolutely pop. Some of the most beautiful Shadow Creek wedding photos were captured in this charming space. With a clever setup, the area can host an intimate ceremony that can accommodate up to 100 guests.

The portico is enclosed in glass so it’s warm in the winter while still giving guests an outdoor feel. The air conditioners from the indoor ballroom are also powerful enough to cool this area as well so you can have a comfortable wedding on a hot Virginian summer as well.

In a way, the portico is the perfect middle ground between the Patio and the Ballroom. It has the best of both worlds – an outdoor feel with the comfort of an indoor facility.

The Bridal Suite and Groom’s Quarters

Of course, there’s also a bridal suite on the property where the bride and her entourage can get ready for the big day. The suite has a private bathroom, a makeup area, and plenty of space for the bridal party to move around.

The groom and his groomsmen also have their own space to get ready for the wedding. The quarters are located in a separate building from the barn. It has a game room, a sitting area, and a private bathroom. The guys can also step outside for some fresh air and take in the incredible views of Shadow Creek.

Both the bridal suite and groom’s quarters are air-conditioned so everyone can stay cool and comfortable while getting ready for the Shadow Creek wedding.

Hiring Vendors for Your Shadow Creek Wedding

When it comes to hiring vendors for your Shadow Creek wedding, there are a few things you should keep in mind. (Check out my complete vendor list for more top tips on this part of the process!)

Be sure to pick vendors only from Shadow Creek’s Preferred Professional List

It’s important to note that Shadow Creek only allows vendors on their Preferred Professional List, which you can request from their website. This is one of the measures that the management has placed to ensure the quality of service and ease of transactions.

As for photographers, look no further than yours truly as I’m one of the few photographers who are fortunate enough to make it on Shadow Creek’s Preferred Professional List. I have worked with the management before and I know all the best spots for photo ops on the property – to get you the most gorgeous shots of you and your love!

Be sure to book your vendors well in advance.

This is especially important for popular wedding dates such as Saturdays in May and June. Vendors such as caterers, florists, and musicians tend to book up quickly; especially those that are good enough to make it to the Preferred Professional List. So, it’s important that you confirm their availability as soon as possible.

Don’t be afraid to ask for discounts.

If you’re a uniformed personnel, don’t hesitate to let Shadow Creek know as they offer a $500 discount as a sign of gratitude for your service to the community. So, if you’re a soldier, police officer, or firefighter, you can have your Shadow Creek wedding at a more accessible price.

Accommodations after your big day

Shadow Creek has a sister property that’s perfect for accommodation after a long evening on the dance floor. It’s called The Shiloh, and it’s located just 500 feet across from the venue.

It’s a luxurious vacation home sitting in the middle of a huge 8-acre farmland. It has all the amenities of a hotel but with the privacy and comfort of a home.

The Shiloh has three bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. There’s also a fully-equipped kitchen, a sunroom, and a dining area. The house can accommodate up to 10 guests so it’s perfect for the wedding party.

The Shiloh is the perfect place to prepare for your Shadow Creek wedding and the best place to spend your first night as husband and wife.

Wrapping Things Up

Shadow Creek is one of the most popular wedding venues in the area.  With its rustic charm and breathtaking views, it’s no wonder why so many couples choose to tie the knot here.
