The Ultimate Wedding Vendor List (Checklist Included): Photographer getting a shot of the couple at the wedding ceremony with her back to the camera.

Planning a wedding but not sure where to start? Let me help! This wedding vendor list is going to help you create a roadmap for where you need to go to get to your dream day!

I’m going to start with a universal, ultimate wedding vendor list with every type of vendor on it, and then I’m going to use my experience as a Virginia-based wedding photographer to recommend some specific wedding vendors in the Virginia and Maryland area – so let’s dive in.

Ultimate Wedding Vendor List

  • Wedding planner
  • Rehearsal dinner venue
  • Ceremony venue
  • Reception venue
  • Ceremony officiant
  • Wedding photographer
  • Wedding videographer
  • Bridal boutique
  • Wedding dress
  • Veil
  • Reception dress
  • Shoes and accessories
  • Hair stylist
  • Makeup artist
  • Wedding favors
  • ‘Getaway’ car rental
  • Wedding night accommodation
  • Jeweler (for Wedding Bands)
  • Florist
  • Reception caterer
  • Wedding cake baker
  • Bar and bartender (if not included in your venue)
  • Stationer

This is the vendor that will provide: save-the-dates, RSVP response cards and return envelopes, invitations, ceremony programs, place cards, table number cards, menus, and thank you cards.

You might want to also include: bridal shower invitations, bachelor and bachelorette party invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, weekend itinerary, separate ceremony, and reception invitations, and map cards.

  • Wedding day signage

Seating charts, welcome signs, signs that direct guests eg to the guestbook, the bar, the favors, the gift table – you get the idea.

In some cases, you can get the wedding day signage from the stationer, but depending on what kind of vendor you choose, you may have to get signage from different vendors – especially if you want something unique or custom, like a neon light sign, for example.

  • Music

You might want a live band or a DJ or silent disco, or some combination of the three. If you are going to hire a live band for a set and then switch over to a DJ, you’ll need more than one vendor.

  • Rentals

Every venue is different when it comes to what they provide, and even if they do have options for you, they might not fit your wedding style. Your rentals can include:

  1. Ceremony chairs
  2. Reception tables and chairs
  3. Tablecloths
  4. Flatware, glassware, and table settings
  5. Sound system

Best Wedding Photography and Videography in Virginia

I might be a little bit biased, but in my opinion, the photographer and videographer have got to be pretty high up on the wedding vendor list. Your love story is worth capturing, and the photos and videos they create are some of the few vendor products that you will have forever.

#1 – Photography: Rachel Yearick

I know it’s cheesy, but I couldn’t just make a wedding vendor list without putting myself on here! Cherishing the tiniest of details and the grandest of love’s moments is what gets me excited to wake up in the morning. Getting to memorialize one of the biggest days of your life for your children and your legacy to see? It’s a dream come true.

#2 – Videography: Film and Flourish

Andrew is an incredible Charlottesville-based wedding videographer who might just be one of the best on this wedding vendor list. He has an incredibly tender cinematic quality to his work, and one little glimpse of any of the videos he’s done will show you why I had to tell you about him.

Best Wedding Makeup Artists in Virginia

#1 – MAB Artistry

MAB Artistry has served couples in Virginia, Maryland, and DC for over ten years at this point – and they’ve collected a lot of local recognition for it along the way. This is such a trusted team, and their work is nothing short of lovely. They do hair as well as makeup, so they are a one-stop-shop for your beauty needs!

#2 – Ariel Lewis

Ariel Lewis and her highly-trained team are a collection of couture makeup artists who have served the likes of Jessica Alba and Katy Perry. Based out of Charlotte, but available for bookings in Maryland and Virginia (and destination weddings abroad!), Ariel is an incredible investment in your day. She also has a team of wonderful hairstylists, so her wedding packages cover everything.

#3 – EmilyLynn Beauty

This Purcellville-based makeup artist is an expert at classic and creative makeup looks. I had to add her to this wedding vendor list because working with her is a dream! Travel to her studio or have her come to you, and enjoy the transformation.

#4 – Christine Marie Makeup Artistry

One of the things I love about Christine Marie and one of the many reasons I had to include her on this wedding vendor checklist is that she and her team don’t use any products that have been tested on animals! Her conscious business can deliver anything from the most natural of looks to full-on glamor.

Best Wedding Florists

#1 – Sinclair and Moore

This is an epic husband and wife duo that operate on the highest level of wedding coordination. They offer multiple award-winning services, but for the purposes of this wedding vendor list, I want to highlight their floral design. The elegance and creativity on display here are out of this world!

While they are west-coast-based, which means hiring them for a Virginia wedding would be a big investment, it is one that is so so worth it. I believe in them so much that they’re the only non-Virginia-based vendor on this wedding vendor list!

#2 – Denby Design Co

Bethany’s work is so romantic and creative. I love her commitment to unique blooms, timeless arrangements, and artistic vision. Don’t have any clue what you want for floral installments? She’s your gal. Bethany pieces together the most beautiful bouquets in a creative and elegant way.

#3 – Urban Flora

I love everything about the dreamy aesthetic of this Lynchburg-based florist. Katelyn is a huge blast to work with, and her vision creates out-of-the-box beauties from the biggest installation to the smallest little posy.

Best Bridal Shop in DC

And to round off this wedding vendor list, I had to mention two of my favorite bridal shops: LovelyBridal. The gowns they have here, guys!

If you feel like making a bit more of a hike, I always recommend checking out Ashley Grace Bridal. Every single bride I have sent there has come back with a stunning dress that suits their style and personality perfectly.

Need some alterations? While you’re near Ashley Grace Bridal you may want to stop by Of Earth + Thread! Sarah Anne is beyond talented & has such a heart for excellence in everything she does. She will make your dress dreams a reality!

Not only is their stock just the best, but the whole experience for you and your crew is elegant, luxurious, and fun. You’re going to love it.
