Some engagement sessions are sunny, others are rainy, but this winter engagement session was filled with inches of lovely, soft, falling snow. A dream come true for me AND this couple!!!
Scheduling around the snow can be tricky, but having a handy AWD SUV (THANK YOU EMMELYNE!) and a good pair of boots got me to their beautiful location safely and warm! It was an adventure worth taking.
When Emmelyne & Joel reached out to me to chat about their wedding day, I was stoked. When they mentioned they wanted their engagement session in the woods while it was snowing… HECK YES, PLEASE! Totally, 1,000% my ideal couple to work with. These are the types of sessions I really crave, and what makes me really love what I do for a living. Rarely does it snow in Virginia so to have all of these things come together felt like a miracle!
Our location for these photos was the woods where they first fell in love. How romantic is that? I love it when couple’s suggest meaningful locations for their engagement photos. Also, get this, not only is it where they fell in love, but it will also be where they’ll say “I DO!” in just a few short months! They’ll have photos from multiple seasons. Pretty cool if you ask me! I love it.
One note about these two. You have to know how easy they were to “pose” – I didn’t have to do hardly anything. They just fell into each other’s arms, making my work a breeze! All I had to do was stand back and capture the moment. My favorite! We squeezed every moment of that half hour we had, before I made the trek back, but I could have spent hours with them! Shooting portraits in the snow is one of my favorites because it gets us into the great outdoors, gives us some fantastic light, and makes for a dynamic environment.
