Lena & Joe’s Classic Engagement Photos in Northern Virginia

Engagements

April 11, 2023

When the crisp autumn air starts to settle in, I feel nostalgic for a simpler time. So when Lena and Joe reached out for another round of engagement photos in Northern Virginia, I leaped at the opportunity! Even though I already took photos with Lena and Joe in the winter, they wanted a fall photo session to capture some more greenery. The Oatlands Historic House and Gardens certainly delivered, giving us a dreamy, romantic setting for their autumn engagement photos.

Being able to photograph a couple as sweet as Lena and Joe is always a joy. But being able to connect with them again and hear more about their story was truly memorable. It was such an honor to be a part of their story, and the photos we captured together showed just how much they love one another.

Lena & Joe’s Story

Lena and Joe met through an online dating app back in 2019. Soon after, as you know, the world spiraled into a global pandemic, putting both Lena and Joe in a territory they’d never experienced before. They decided to quarantine together, putting their newer relationship to the test! But their love and devotion to each other only grew stronger, and they moved into their new home in 2020.

The way Lena and Joe look at each other just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. After all, if your new relationship thrives during quarantine, you’ve got something pretty special! They have two adorable pups, and can’t wait for their wedding this April.

Classic Engagement Photos In Northern Virginia

Lena had such a clear idea of what she wanted for their second engagement photo shoot, and after some thinking, we came up with the perfect place. We met up at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens because it was the perfect backdrop for a classic, almost film-inspired engagement photo shoot.

Lena wore an adorable mid-length white cotton dress with long, princess-style sleeves. She looked every bit like a lead in a romance movie. Joe looked equally sharp in his black dress pants and white shirt. They reminded me of timeless black-and-white movie couples from yesteryear, falling in love in a beautiful garden on a soft, autumn day.

Step By Step

After a few photos by the gables and reflection pool, we took some incredible shots on a nearby stairway. The rustic, red brick was stunning against the vivid greenery. And it only made Lena and Joe stand out all the more, almost like lovers in a world of their own. Joe even held Lena’s hand, guiding her down the stairs into a sweet embrace. They were naturals in front of the camera, making magic come alive right before my eyes!

To End The Day: Engagement Photos in Northern Virginia

Being able to capture Lena and Joe’s love for one another was such a delightful experience, and I cannot wait to hear more about their special day. Working with them was so special, and seeing that love conquers all (even through a pandemic!) reminded me that no matter what happens, all that counts at the end of the day is who you share it with.

I would love to be a part of your special day, too. Let me know if you’d like to connect!
