A Surprise Proposal – Georgetown Waterfront, Washington D.C.

Engagement

June 18, 2019

This past month I got a special message. I grew more and more excited as I read it. The anticipation started building immediately! Alvaro, a quiet, kind, and consistent friend was planning to propose to the love of his life. As the weeks passed, Alvaro skillfully and carefully crafted a beautiful proposal that would include the beauty of the Georgetown Waterfront, their family, and those powerful, beautiful four words. Marie had no idea! I was so glad we kept it a secret. Not always easy when you get calls with your bride-to-be standing right in front of you. Oops! Thanks for rolling with it Alvaro. You kept this a surprise with ease!

There is something extremely special about watching a relationship grow. I’ve known Alvaro since we were in the same youth group high school, but only met Marie when they started dating. They are such a great match. It’s been beautiful watching them grow closer! The brightness and joy they exude together is such a gift, and this night was no different.

After a romantic dinner, Alvaro and Marie arrived at the waterfront where their families were hiding behind some bushes. He led her down the path, hand in hand, along the waterfront. The weather was perfect. They were dressed up. Everything was set and he was so excited! I started snapping photos of them as they walked by, two cameras swinging. Suddenly, all the people around seemed to fade away. Alvaro & Marie shared a kiss, and then as they came closer, she saw the signs being held by their sweet family, “Marie, will you marry me?”

As she finished reading, she noticed Alvaro down on one knee. He looked up at her wet eyes, and offered her the ring. The family all smiled with joy. A beautiful turquoise box held that perfect symbol of their love and commitment. The ring sparkled as he slipped it one her finger and continued to as the celebration began.

The moment was perfect.

Marie and Alvaro, I love you both and feel so blessed to have had the privilege of documenting this special moment in your life. Cheers to you and a lifetime of happiness to come!
