You know those movies, the ones where, if you’re flipping through the TV channels and they’re on, you just have to stop and watch? I probably wouldn’t ever choose to plan have a “movie night” and watch one of them, but they’re such classics, that when they’re on…you just…watch. For me, a few come to mind: The Avengers, The Notebook, La La Land, The Lord of The Rings, and Forest Gump.
Much like those timeless movies, there are photos that I just can’t help but stop and look at over and over.
Much like those timeless movies, there are photos that I just can’t help but stop and look at over and over. Grayson and Victoria’s session was nearly a year ago now, but the more time goes on, the more I realize just how timeless these photos have become. Producers don’t always know how a movie will turn out. Will it hit people deep within, touching hearts or quickly move past the box office?
It is the same with engagement session photos. I, too, don’t always know when a photo will become iconic. Will it share within that one image the whole story of a couple’s season of being engaged? Will express what they are embracing and feeling in that moment? During the session, the moments move so fast, but later, there is almost always that one snap that captured a reaction, a touch, a look in the eyes that is ONLY shared with that special person. I may never know which photo holds that timelessness for the couple, but I get so giddy when I hear that a photo touched their hearts.
What makes a photo, movie or piece of music iconic and timeless?
So what makes a photo or movie or piece of music iconic and timeless? I personally think it’s that there is a deeper, sweeter, and more serious dimension within. A deep vibe beyond all the pixels, colors, and posing. Maybe it’s the emotion that is expressed within the sweetest of love? Maybe it comes from the safety of being powerfully and gently “known”? Or maybe it is something beyond words at all…
One thing is for sure, when you find that irreplaceable, timeless moment, you hold onto it for forever.
Grayson and Victoria, you two are timeless and stunning inside and out. I hope you love seeing yourselves (and your love) through my lens as much as I loved capturing it. God bless you both!
